LeBoeuf Little League

April 9, 2009

The LeBoeuf Little League held their monthly meeting at the Waterford Boro Building. 

The Meeting was called to order at 8:32pm by President, Garry Sargent.

ATTENDANCE: Ed Vorpagel, Randy Amon, Colleen Strain, Mike Hering, Mark Rose, Heather Johnston, Matthew Johnston, Donald Holder, Clinton Daley, Bryon Laskowski, Rick Dauson, Greg Roberts, Steve Lesik, Brian Mitchell, Stuart Carr, Mark Welka, Mike Rose, Carl Wolfrom, Trevor Donnell, Jim Kupniewski, Arnold Wolf, Paul Peters, Mark Lockhart, Mike Falk, Darlene Haibach

SECRETARY: The minutes were read, corrections made and Ed Vorpagel motioned to accept, seconded by Mark Rose.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Report was read by Darlene Haibach and approved by Ed Vorpagel and seconded by Greg Roberts. See attached report.

SPECIAL PROJECTS: Darlene stated there are 32 boxes of candy left and is being sold for $20 per box. Colleen spoke with Curtis from "Jane’s Stromboli" and informed him of the upcoming dates for delivery and pick up. Paul Peters made copies of the stromboli coach and player forms, which will be given out at the Coaches’ Meeting 4-19. Steve Krolczyk stated work on the sponsor signs is being completed and he is still awaiting word from some sponsors. The article for the Summit Newsletter will be ready for the April 20th deadline for the May edition.

PICTURE COMMISSIONER: Mike Hering has picture packets available and will be handed out at the Coaches’ Meeting 4-19. Again, pictures are scheduled for May 2 at the high school.

PUBLIC RELATIONS: Garry reported the website has been updated.

SOFTBALL COMMISSIONER: Ed stated Harborcreek will not host a major girls’ tournament this year due to poor turnout with this age division.

BASEBALL COMMISSIONER: Mark Rose reported there are 6 T-ball, 6 Instructional, 5 Minor, 5 Major and 3 Junior teams this year.

CHALLENGER DIVISION COMMISSIONER: Heather stated 20 kids signed up, ages 5 through 12 and will be comprised of 2 teams. She has scheduled a meet and great for April 25 from 10 to noon at the Complex, Filed 3, for the players and their families. The games for The Challenger Division will be played Saturday mornings at the Complex, Field 3.

UMPIRE COMMISSIONER: Greg Roberts has rescheduled the Umpire Clinic for April 18 at 6:00 at Complex Field 4. He will need more umpire shirts. Greg mentioned there are fewer umpires than last year. He stated umpires must be older than the age of players they are umpiring.

TOURNAMENT COMMISSIONER: Garry reported there are several tournaments at various times and has forwarded that information on to the proper teams’ coaches.

SCHEDULING COMMISSIONER: No new updates

UNIFORM COMMISSIONER: Brian Smith said the uniforms will be dispersed Saturday, April 25 at the Complex, Field 5 from 10-12.

EQUIPMENT COMMISSIONER: First aid kits and scorebooks will be handed out at the Coaches’ Meeting. Mark Rose suggested LLL purchase 10 pitch counters.

FIELD MAINTENANCE: Greg Roberts reported "Kimmy’s" is out of business and the zero turn is now at Greenhill’s. He mentioned the need to get more people to help out with the mowing; Stuart Carr said his parents will be able to a lot of the mowing again this year. Stuart will pick up seed from Erie County Co-op. The 8 dugouts are courtesy of Kip Miller. Brian Mitchell made a suggestion that steel be used for the dugout roofs, versus shingle; Jeff Kuzma motioned to accept for a steel roof and Stuart seconded the motion.

INSURANCE COMMISSIONER: Darlene stated the balance will be paid by June.

OLD BUSINESS: 8 port-a-potties have been delivered. Mike Hering reported the $5000 Grant money will be available at the end of June.

NEW BUSINESS: Coaches’ Meeting Sunday, April 19 at 6:30 at the Summit Township Building. Stuart suggested a thank you go to Kip Miller, Duchini, Wander and Showman in the form of a poster board thank you that all of the players sign.

ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Stuart Carr and seconded Brian Mitchell to adjourn the meeting at 10:20pm.
