LeBoeuf Little League

March 12, 2009

The LeBoeuf Little League held their monthly meeting at the Waterford Boro Building. The Meeting was called to order at 8:10pm by Mike Hering in Garry Sargent’s absence.

ATTENDANCE: Brian Mitchell, Jeff Kuzma, Stuart Carr, Heather Johnston, Ed Vorpagel, Randy Amon, Bob Young, Darlene Haibach, Colleen Strain, Mark McNerny, Brian Webster, Mike Falk, Mike Hering, Brian Smith, Paul Peters, Greg Smith and Mark Lockhart

SECRETARY: The minutes were read, corrections made and Stuart Carr motioned to accept, seconded by Ed Vorpagel.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Report was read by Darlene Haibach and approved by Greg Roberts and seconded by Mark Lockhart. See attached report. Darlene reported the 990EZ form is finally complete after filing for a late extension.

SPECIAL PROJECTS: 410 players signed up for LLL, with 18 of those sign ups for the Challenger Division. Mark Lockhart stated 21 sponsors are available once the teams have been configured. The candy money is due March 14. Jane’s Stromboli is increasing the price of the Strombolis and it was agreed that the selling price of the Strombolis be increased and sold for $3.00

PICTURE COMMISSIONER: No new updates.

PUBLIC RELATIONS: Darlene said there was a complaint from a parent regarding an incorrect sign up age in the Summit Newsletter. Despite the LLL website address listed in the Newsletter, it was suggested there be a LLL contact name and phone number in future Newsletter articles for people to call with questions. Mike Hering suggested Garry Sargent be the contact person.

SOFTBALL COMMISSIONER: The draft will be held Sunday, March 22 from12-6 at the Waterford Boro Building (Darlene will make arrangements for the building). Ed states each of the 10 teams are set with their coaches. The remaining 11-14 year old girls’ open gyms have been cancelled due to poor participation. Ed said there will not be an 11 year old All-Star Team this year.

BASEBALL COMMISSIONER: Mark McNerny said they are short 2 coaches for the Majors and T-Ball. He also reported there were no soft baseballs at Robison for the open gyms, so Rick Dawson purchased replacements from the Erie Sport Store and will need reimbursed.

CHALLENGER DIVISION COMMISSIONER: Heather stated she has several sponsors in: Meadowbrook, Country Fair, Pediatric Ophthalmology, Animal Hospital and Advanced Welding Technology. There are 18 kids who have signed up. Heather said she will find out what the kids’ disabilities are, then she will purchase the proper equipment.

UMPIRE COMMISSIONER: Greg Roberts said there will be an Umpire Clinic on April 1, 2009, at 6:00, at the Waterford Elementary School. The Albion Umpire Commissioner will be attending as well as interested umpires from Harborcreek. Any kids 12 years old and above who are interested in umpiring are to contact Val Rose. Greg reports no major changes in the rules this year.

TOURNAMENT COMMISSIONER: No updates

SCHEDULING COMMISSIONER: No updates

UNIFORM COMMISSIONER: Brian Smith said the uniforms will be about $4000.00.

EQUIPMENT COMMISSIONER: No updates

FIELD MAINTENANCE: Greg Roberts said he finally found the 3-point hitch at the Complex. He reported the fields at the Complex look great and are draining well. The Zero-Turn will go to "Kimmy’s" for maintenance. He suggested LLL purchase a second set of blades for the Zero-Turn; Jeff Kuzma made a motion to purchase the blades and Ed Vorpagel seconded. The Kubota needs no maintenance. There was discussion regarding the portable toilets and how many will be needed-more discussion will take place at the April meeting.

INSURANCE COMMISSIONER: No updates.

OLD BUSINESS: Mike Hering stated Garry said the attendance at the Coaches’ Clinic was poor. Mark Rose received the dugout Blueprints from Saegertown.

NEW BUSINESS: Waterford Township has offered their assistance with LLL obtaining the DCNR grant. Jerry Hanas from Waterford has offered to help with the fields. Mike stated the ditch at the Complex Field 3 needs taken care of soon for the safety of everyone attending the games. There will be further discussion at April’s meeting regarding doing away with the pants and deposits. Tentative date of April 19 for the Coaches’ Meeting-will be discussed at the April meeting. Jeff will check with Summit Township for it’s availability for the Coaches’ Meeting. Ed Vorpagel suggested LLL purchase a $50 Mall gift certificate for Amanda Shields for all of her help and hard work with the pitching clinics; Stuart motioned to accept and Greg Roberts seconded. Jeff Kuzma suggested LLL check with the "S&S Company" for their special mixture of top dressing for the fields.
